Freeway linking Vietnam, China slated for service

A four-lane freeway linking Vietnam and China will be open to traffic on December 26, expected to cut the current four-hour travel time by half, Xinhuanet reported Saturday.

Construction of the freeway connecting Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the No.1 highway of Vietnam, via Huu Nghi Pass on the two countries’ border had been completed, the news agency said.

The 179.2 km freeway had been constructed since 2002, with a cost of US$458 million.
