“Delta Torch"

The second Mekong Tourism Festival ended on February 26 with an art programme called “Delta Torch” performed on a floating stage in Chau Doc Town, the southern province of An Giang.

In the beautiful night, perfect for enjoying a 120-minute art programme seemed to be too short for residents in Long An and tourists from all over the country. Participants once again had a chance to enjoy as a unique art performance as the opening ceremony. The 10,000-seat filled to capacity was packed.

The image of the floating market in the river, typical characteristics in the cultural life of southern Vietnam reappeared on the floating stage supported with two large screens, creating a poetic space: small boats surfed lightly on the water surface and in a sweet singing voice; a Cuu Long River Delta girl in a loose-fitting blouse (kind of shirt used by southerners) released lanterns on the water current in a gentle manner.

“What a beautiful Kien Giang” performed by an art troupe from Kien Giang Province, “Southern Land” by Ca Mau’s artists and “Jubilant Festive Day” by Soc Trang’s artists helped audience to feel the beauty, diversity as well as cultural identity of an overview painting of the river countryside in southern Vietnam.

Using the torch as a main image, “Delta Torch” sent a message of lighting and handing the tourism torch in this great potential land.

The lake surface was illuminated with lanterns, small boats and graceful schoolgirls. The singing of singer Anh Tuyet, together with a choir performing “An Giang Current” closing an impressive artistic night and officially saying goodbye to the second Mekong Festival.
